In India, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) is an autonomous, statutory body tasked with regulating and promoting the insurance and re-insurance industries. India’s prime minister announced an insurance repository system that helping policyholders buy and maintain insurance policies in electronic form instead of on paper. Insurance repositories, like share depositories or open-end fund transfer agencies, will hold electronic records of insurance policies issued to individuals as electronic IDIOTIC or e-policies.
